To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for everyone and to protect the museum’s natural environment and cultural heritage, we kindly ask all visitors to observe the following guidelines while visiting the Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum. 

  1. Admission and Opening Hours 

Entry to the museum is permitted with a valid admission ticket. Visitors are kindly requested to retain their ticket until the end of their visit. The museum grounds may be visited only during official opening hours. 

  1. Photography and Filming 

Visitors are welcome to take photographs for personal use. 
Photography and filming for commercial purposes must be arranged in advance with the museum administration by contacting pasts@lebm.gov.lv. 

  1. Vehicle Access 

Vehicle access within the museum territory is restricted. Entry is permitted only for emergency services and vehicles with a special permit issued by the museum administration. 

  1. Protection of the Museum Environment 

In order to preserve the museum’s historic buildings, collections, and natural landscape, the following activities are not permitted on the museum grounds: 

  • damaging natural, historical, or cultural heritage objects, museum buildings, exhibits, landscape elements, or advertising and information signs; 
  • damaging vegetation or littering the territory; 
  • entering or remaining on the museum grounds while under the strong influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances; 
  • smoking, including the use of electronic smoking devices, outside designated areas; 
  • lighting open fires, torches, or candles. Open fires are permitted only during museum-organised events and under the supervision of the staff member responsible for fire safety; 
  • disturbing the peace of the natural environment or other visitors by excessive noise or the use of sound equipment; 
  • moving around the museum territory with bicycles or motorised vehicles. Children under the age of 7 may use children’s bicycles. 
  1.  Dogs in the Museum 

Dogs are welcome in the museum territory under the following conditions: 

  • dogs must be kept on a leash at all times; 
  • dog owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets, including in the museum’s forest areas; 
  • dogs are not permitted inside museum buildings and exhibition houses; 
  • during museum events, only small lap dogs carried in a suitable carrier bag are permitted. Other dogs are not allowed during events. 
  1. Video Surveillance 

Video surveillance operates on the museum grounds and in exhibition areas to ensure the protection and preservation of the museum’s natural and cultural heritage and collections. 

  1. Personal Belongings 

The museum is not responsible for visitors’ personal belongings, bicycles, or vehicles left in the parking area. 

  1. Compliance with Museum Guidelines 

Visitors who do not comply with these guidelines may be asked by museum security staff to leave the museum territory. In cases of material damage, the museum reserves the right to seek compensation in accordance with applicable law. 

  1. Photography During Events 

Please note that photography and filming may take place during museum events. Photo and video materials may be used for the museum’s communication and publicity purposes.
