This extended tour introduces visitors to some of the most significant parts of the museum.
Participants will visit a 19th-century roadside pub and see the exhibition of historical transport vehicles displayed there. The tour continues with the Lutheran Church of Usma, built in the early 18th century, and a chimneyless house from the fishermen’s village of Nida.
Visitors will then see a residential threshing barn from a homestead in the Valmiera region, dating back to the Swedish period. After the Great Northern War such buildings served not only as farm structures but also as dwellings and schools for peasants.
The tour concludes with a visit to a Vidzeme farmer’s homestead and the Liepāja Harbour Warehouse, built at the end of the 17th century, where the museum’s open storage collection displays more than 100 chests from all regions of Latvia.
